Night Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week on I-95, Betsy Ross Bridge in
Philadelphia

6/30/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled next week after Independence
Day on
Interstate 95 and on the Betsy Ross Bridge for construction at the Cottman
Avenue (Route 73), Girard Avenue and Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue
interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation

(PennDOT) said today.

This work is associated with three projects underway to improve the ramp
system
at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange and to rebuild the
Cottman
Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges and reconstruct and widen more than
three
miles of I-95 adjoining those interchanges.

The work schedule is:

• On Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two
between
the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges for paving on
the
northbound side of I-95;

• On Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73)
will be
closed for paving on the northbound side of I-95. Motorists will be
detoured
north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on
Linden
Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73);

• On Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp
to
I-95 north will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for

overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on State
Road,
then left on Linden Avenue, then right on the ramp to I-95 north at the
Academy
Road Interchange; and

• On Wednesday, July 6, and Thursday, July 7, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, motorists heading west across the Betsy Ross Bridge
(Route
90) into Pennsylvania toward I-95 will face intermittent lane closures and
periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes for the erection of an overhead sign

structure.

In addition, motorists using Richmond Street between Cumberland Street and
Lehigh Avenue in the vicinity of the Girard Avenue Interchange will
encounter
intermittent stoppages on Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, between
7:00
AM and 3:00 PM for the placement of beams for the new northbound viaduct.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work zones.
All
scheduled activities are weather dependent.
