Attached is the latest weather briefing from the US National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ regarding the risk for severe thunderstorms and flooding for portions of our region today, and Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Chester County Forecasted Conditions: - Hazards and Impacts for Today:
- Severe weather threat mostly through early evening, though showers and thunderstorms could linger through midnight.
- Strong winds and large hail possible for far Southeastern Pennsylvania (see 1st map in attachment).
- Widespread flooding not expected but localized flooding is possible especially in highly urbanized and other poor drainage areas.
- Hazards and Impacts for Thursday, June 23:
- Flooding is possible throughout the day for far Southeastern Pennsylvania.
- Risk for strong winds and large hail for Southeastern Pennsylvania (see 2nd map in attachment).
- Thunderstorms possible throughout the day, expect the primary severe threat to be in the afternoon, early evening.
- Small risk of tornadoes with severe thunderstorms.
Active Watches & Warnings: DES Actions:
- We will continue to monitor this event and provide additional information as it becomes available.
- The Watch Officer is available through the 9-1-1 Operations Center by calling 610-344-5100.
- The EOC is not expected to be activated for this event.
The next briefing package is expected to be issued Wednesday, June 22, 2016 around 5:00PM. Both of these will be updated early tomorrow morning (no later than 4 AM EDT). We will distribute the next package as soon as we have had an opportunity to analyze the impacts for Chester County.
