PennDOT Opening Three Newly Rehabilitated Local Bridges in Montgomery and
Bucks Counties

6/9/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced the

opening of newly rehabilitated local bridges on Violet Lane and Oreland
Mill
Road in Montgomery County, and Kansas Road in Bucks County.

The local bridges, which were structurally deficient, were rehabilitated
under
two state contracts that were enabled through Act 89, Pennsylvania's
transportation plan.

The Violet Lane bridge over the east branch of Indian Creek in Lower Merion

Township opened Tuesday, June 7, following the replacement of its
deteriorated
bridge deck and beams. The township-owned bridge closed for construction on

February 22, 2016.

The Oreland Mill Road bridge over Sunnybrook Creek in Springfield Township
is
scheduled to open Monday, June 13. This township-owned bridge closed for
construction on March 7, 2016. The contractor worked over the past three
months
to replace the old deck and beams.

These two bridges were rehabilitated under a $2,353,598 project that
includes
three additional local bridges. J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester
County,
is the general contractor. All bridge work is expected to be completed in
late
2016. The project is financed with 100 percent state funds.

The Kansas Road bridge over Little Neshaminy Creek in Warrington Township
will
reopen this afternoon, June 9. The county-owned bridge was closed on March
7,
2016, for the replacement of its deteriorated deck and beams.

H&K Group, Inc., of Skippack, Montgomery County, repaired the Kansas Road
bridge as part of a $2,353,598 project, which includes four additional
local
bridges. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2016. The
project is
financed with 100 percent state funds.
