I-95 Night Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week in Philadelphia

Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 at the Cottman

Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges for construction, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

The operations are associated with projects under construction to improve
the
Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges and reconstruct
and
widen adjoining sections of I-95.

The upcoming work schedule is:

• On Sunday, October 16, through Saturday, October 22, I-95 north will be
reduced from three lanes to two from 8:00 PM to midnight, then from two
lanes
to one from 12:01 AM to 5:00 AM the following morning between the Bridge
Street
and Academy Road interchanges for placement of construction barriers for
the
new median work zone;

• On Sunday, October 16, through Saturday, October 22, I-95 south will be
reduced periodically from three lanes to two from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning at various locations between the Academy Road and Bridge
Street interchanges for adjustments to the construction barrier;

• On Sunday, October 16, through Saturday, October 22, from 8:00 PM to 5:00
AM
the following morning, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73)

will be closed periodically for ramp construction. Motorists will be
detoured
north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on
Linden
Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73); and

• On Sunday, October 16, through Saturday, October 22, the Princeton Avenue

on-ramp to I-95 north will be closed periodically from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning for drainage work. Motorists will be detoured north on
State
Road, then left on Linden Avenue, then right on the ramp to I-95 north at
the
Academy Road Interchange.

In addition, I-95 viaduct construction will close two streets in the
vicinity
of the Girard Avenue Interchange during the day next week. Girard Avenue at
the
I-95 overpass will be closed on Thursday, October 20, from 7:00 AM to 3
P:00
PM, and the northbound detour road (Allen Street) between Richmond Street
and
Allegheny Avenue will be closed Wednesday, October 19, from 9:00 AM to 2:00
PM.
Traffic normally using the detour road to access the on-ramp to I-95 north
at
Castor Avenue will be detoured north on Richmond Street and right on Castor

Avenue to the on-ramp.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work zones.

scheduled activities are weather dependent.
