Lane Restrictions Scheduled on U.S. 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township,
Montgomery County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today
that
the right lane will be closed on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 724
and
Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township,
Montgomery
County, on Tuesday, October 18, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, for road
construction.

In addition, the right lane will be closed on U.S. 422 west between the
Sanatoga and Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove
Township,
Montgomery County, for relocation of concrete barrier and traffic signs,
and
painting new traffic lines,

Crews will work Wednesday, October 19, through Friday, October 21 and from
Monday, October 24, through Wednesday, October 26, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM,
and
Monday, October 10, and Tuesday, October 11, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and
from
6:00 PM to 6:00 AM for the milling and resurfacing of the intersection.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area
as
backups may occur.

The work is weather dependent.

The upcoming operation is part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to
rebuild
1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road)
interchanges, and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and
Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled
to
finish in October 2018.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
