U.S. 1, I-95, I-476 Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in the Philadelphia Region

​King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled on several state highways in the Philadelphia region next week including U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike), Interstate 95, and Interstate 476 for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

  • Monday, February 18, and Tuesday, February 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Lenape Road and Greenwood Road in Kennett Township, Chester County;
  • Monday, February 18, through Friday, February 22, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, temporary lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between just north of the Delaware State line and the Philadelphia County line in Lower Chichester, Upper Chichester, Ridley, and Tinicum townships, and the City of Chester, Delaware County;
  • Tuesday, February 19, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM a right lane closure is scheduled on the ramp from northbound I-476 to Matsonford Road in Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County;
  • Tuesday, February 19, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on the ramp from Matsonford Road to I-76 East in Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County; and
  • Wednesday, February 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on McCallum Street between Allens Lane and Mermaid Lane in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
