PennDOT to Host Open House Meeting for Bethel Road, Mill Road Roundabout Project in Upper Chichester Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will hold an open house public plans display on Wednesday, May 22, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 8500 Furey Road in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County, to inform citizens about an upcoming project to construct a roundabout to improve multimodal mobility and safety at the intersection of Bethel Road and Mill Road.

The purpose of the open house is to present the public with progress plans and a status update on the project. The meeting will be conducted as an open-house plans display where citizens will have the opportunity to circulate among the subject displays to gather information and discuss the different facets of the project with PennDOT's design team.

Under this project, PennDOT will construct a single lane roundabout at the intersection of Bethel Road and Mill Road; relocate existing utilities, install new drainage facilities and roadway lighting; and construct new ADA curb ramps, sidewalks and crosswalks. The construction of bicycle ramps is also under consideration.

The purpose of the project is to reduce angle crashes and vehicular speeds; increase sight distance; enhance visibility and connectivity of pedestrians and bicyclists; and accommodate pedestrian, bicycle and semi-trailer movements through the intersection.

Construction bids on this project are expected to open in fall 2020. The project is anticipated to be funded with 100 percent federal dollars.
