I-95 Night Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week at Cottman Avenue
Interchange

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled on Interstate 95 in
Philadelphia
next week for construction at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange,
and
during the day on Lehigh Avenue at the Girard Avenue Interchange, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

This work is associated with construction underway to rebuild the Cottman
Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges and reconstruct and widen
more
than two miles of I-95 adjoining the interchanges.

The work schedule is:

•On Sunday, May 22, through Thursday, May 26, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, I-95 north will be reduced periodically from three lanes
to
two between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges
for
construction;

•On Sunday, May 22, through Thursday, May 26, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73)
will be
closed for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north
on
I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on Linden
Avenue,
and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73); and

•On Sunday, May 22, through Thursday, May 26, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp
to
I-95 north will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for

overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on State
Road,
then left on Linden Avenue, then right on the ramp to I-95 north at the
Academy
Road Interchange;

In addition, Lehigh Avenue will be closed between Richmond Street and
Thompson
Street in Philadelphia's Port Richmond neighborhood on Monday, May 23,
through
Wednesday, May 25, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the setting of beams for the
new
northbound viaduct that is under construction at the I-95/Girard Avenue
Interchange.

During the daily street closure, Lehigh Avenue through traffic will be
detoured
over Richmond Street, Allegheny Avenue and Aramingo Avenue. Local access
will
be maintained up to the construction area on the west side of I-95.

Motorists also will encounter a single-lane pattern in each direction on
Aramingo Avenue at the I-95 Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange
from
8:00 PM Friday, May 27 to 5:00 AM Saturday, May 28, for demolition of an
overhead ramp.
No construction-related lane restrictions will be in place on I-95 from
5:00 AM
Friday, May 27, to 9:00 AM Tuesday, May 31, for the Memorial Day holiday.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work zones.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
