U.S. 422 Lane Closures Scheduled for Reflector, Barrier and Beam
Installation

One lane will be closed on U.S. 422 west between the Sanatoga and Route 724

(Schuylkill Road) interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery
County,
on Monday, May 16 through Thursday, May 19, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and one

lane on eastbound U.S. 422 will be closed from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for the
installation of reflectors and concrete barriers, the Pennsylvania
Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Also, the right lane on U.S. 422 west will be closed between the Sanatoga
and
Route 724 interchanges, on Wednesday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2, from 6:00
AM
to 3:00 PM, for the placement of concrete beams on the new bridge being
built
over the Schuylkill River,

The upcoming operations are part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to
rebuild
1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road)
interchanges, and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and
Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled
to
finish in October 2018.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
South Railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River bridge
to
the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand
Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning ramps at
the
U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and realigning
the
ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting
three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future Intelligent
Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
