Outer Lanes on Eastbound Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 21st Street in
Philadelphia to Reopen Tuesday

4/27/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

The eastbound outer lanes on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 21st
Street
and 20th Street in Center City Philadelphia will reopen by 3:00 PM Tuesday,
May
2, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The eastbound outer lanes have been closed since October 2015 for
construction
of the 20th Street/Benjamin Franklin Parkway bridge over Interstate 676.
The
bridge, which is being replaced in three phases, is expected to be
completed
this summer.

Also by 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 2, crews will close Winter Street between 21st

Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for approximately two months for
construction of a new intersection with the eastbound outer lanes of the
Parkway. Winter Street motorists will be detoured south on 21st Street,
east on
Race Street and north on 20th Street to access the Benjamin Franklin
Parkway.

The work is part of PennDOT's $64.8 million project to replace seven
structurally deficient bridges over I-676 between 22nd Street and 18th
Street,
and to make landscaping and streetscape improvements above the expressway.
Construction began in April 2015 and will finish in November 2018, a year
ahead
of schedule.

PennDOT's contractor is currently working to build new bridges above I-676
at
the former Family Court building, Free Library, 19th Street, Benjamin
Franklin
Parkway/20th Street, 21st Street and 22nd Street. Work on the 18th Street
bridge is scheduled to start later this year.

Buckley & Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the
project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
