Township, Chester County

4/14/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

The bridge carrying Green Valley Road over the west branch of Brandywine
Creek
in Newlin Township, Chester County reopened today following repairs that
began
earlier this month, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

announced today.

The bridge has been closed since May 2016 following an inspection that
detected
severe structural deterioration of the steel beams.

Chester County maintenance crews rehabilitated the bridge deck and beams;
resurfaced the roadway; and installed new guide rail in order to reopen the

structure to vehicles weighing 16 tons or less.

The Green Valley Road bridge was built in 1937. It is 13 feet long, 18.5
feet
wide and carries about 100 vehicle a day.
