Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on $2.6 Million Project to
Resurface 10 Miles of State Highway in Delaware County

4/12/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to
begin
next week on a $2.6 million project to repair and resurface 10 miles of
state
highway in Delaware County. All work on the project is expected to be
completed
in late October.

"Resurfacing projects go a long way in improving our highways while making
for
a smoother and safer ride for commuters," Governor Tom Wolf said.

Beginning Tuesday, April 18, through Thursday, May 4, from 6:00 PM to 6:00
AM,
lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on Ridley Creek Road between
Barren Road/Bishop Hollow Road and U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Upper
Providence
Township, for milling and paving.
During this operation, there will be no lane restrictions on Saturdays.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling this work zone
because
slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule is
dependent on the weather.

The additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract

include:

• Eagle Road/Glendale Road between Springfield Road and Route 3 (West
Chester
Pike) in Springfield, Haverford and Marple townships;
• Wayne Avenue from Conestoga Road to just north of Woodsworth Court in
Radnor
Township;
• Springfield Road between MacDade Boulevard and Netherwood Drive in Aldan,

Clifton Heights and Collingdale boroughs, and Springfield and Upper Darby
townships;
• Amosland Road/Holmes Road between U.S. 13 (Chester Pike) and MacDade
Boulevard in Norwood Borough and Ridley Township; and
• Westtown Road from South Concord Road/Westtown Road to just north of
Meadowcroft Road in Thornbury Township.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill off the existing roadway
surface and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement
will
seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor on the $2,570,904 project, which is financed with 100 percent
state
funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.
