I-76 Overnight Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week for Repair and Resurfacing
Operations in Montgomery County

Overnight lane closures are scheduled next week on eastbound and westbound
Interstate 76 between Interstate 476 and U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in West
Conshohocken Borough and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, for
milling,
overlay and concrete patching operations as part of a project to repair and

resurface 12.5 miles of the expressway, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, August 20, Monday, August 21, and Wednesday, August 23, from 9:00
PM
to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane restrictions are scheduled on
eastbound
and westbound I-76 between I-476 and U.S. 1 (City Avenue);
• Tuesday, August 22, and Thursday, August 24, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, lane restrictions are scheduled on eastbound I-76
between
I-476 and U.S. 1 (City Avenue); and
• Friday, August 25, and Saturday, August 26, from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM the
following morning, lane restrictions are scheduled on eastbound and
westbound
I-76 between I-476 and U.S. 1 (City Avenue).

All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to
use an
alternate route or allow extra time when traveling on I-76 in the work area

because backups and delays will occur.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling, overlaying and
rehabilitating existing pavement; performing base repairs; installing new
guide
rail; repairing or replacing damaged traffic signs, two overhead sign
structures and numerous expansion joints on three structures; and
installing
rumble strips, delineators and new mileage markers along the four-lane
section
of I-76.

The resurfacing of mainline I-76 in Montgomery County is scheduled to be
completed in late October, while work on the entire project will finish in
summer 2018.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on
the
$21,150,734 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
