U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) Outer Lane Closures Next Week for Repair and
Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia

Daytime and nighttime lane closures are scheduled next week in both
directions
on the outer lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) as part of a major
improvement project to repair and resurface 12 miles of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt
Boulevard) between 9th Street and the Bucks County line in Philadelphia,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, August 21, through Thursday, August 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
and
7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane closures are scheduled northbound and southbound
on
the outer lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between Cottman Avenue
(Route
73) and 9th Street, for milling and paving operations; and
• Friday, August 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 AM the
next
morning, lane closures are scheduled northbound and southbound on the outer

lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and
9th
Street, for milling and paving operations.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to
allow
extra time when traveling on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in the work areas

because backups and delays will occur during construction.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the outside, local lanes with new asphalt. The project also
includes resurfacing crossover lanes. The new pavement will seal the
roadways
and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in mid-November.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor
on
the $7,645,967 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds from
Act
89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

The inner lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) were resurfaced in 2014,
also
with funds from Act 89.
