I-676 Overnight Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week for Fiber Optic Installation in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Alternating eastbound or westbound single lane closures will be in place on Interstate 676 between the Interstate 95 and Interstate 76 interchanges in Philadelphia on Monday, July 9, through Thursday, July 12, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, for installation of overhead fiber optic lines, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised that backups will occur approaching the work zone. All scheduled activities are weather permitting.

The fiber optic lines will be used for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices that are being installed as part of PennDOT's four-year, $64.8 million project to replace seven structurally-deficient bridges over I-676 between 22nd Street and 18th Street, and to make landscaping and streetscape improvements above the expressway.

Buckley & Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
