U.S. 30 Ramp to U.S. 202 North to Close at Night Next Week for Construction in Chester County
King of Prussia, PA – The ramp from the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, will be closed Monday, January 28, through Friday, February 1, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and until 10:00 AM Saturday, February 2, for removal of the debris shield used during the rehabilitation of the northbound U.S. 202 bridge over the ramp, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
U.S. 30/Exton Bypass motorists heading to northbound U.S. 202 will exit at Business U.S. 30, turn right onto Business U.S. 30 and right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
In addition, northbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one from the Boot Road Interchange through the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Interchange from 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 30, to 5:00 AM Thursday, January 31, for installation of concrete barriers.
Motorists are advised that backups may occur at times approaching the work zone. All schedule activities are weather permitting.
PennDOT is currently rehabilitating and re-decking the outside half of the southbound U.S. 202 bridge over Amtrak following completion of repairs and re-decking of the inner half of the bridge in late 2018. Rehabilitation of the northbound bridge finished in mid-2018.
During construction on the southbound bridge, a single "express lane" of southbound U.S. 202 traffic has been shifted temporarily onto the rebuilt northbound bridge. A second southbound lane remains on the southbound side.
The work is part of PennDOT's $26.4 million project to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass ramp, and replace the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass. The entire project is expected to be completed in the fall.
Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
