U.S. 1 South (Roosevelt Expressway) Reduced to Single Lane Thursday Night for Viaduct Construction in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) will be reduced to a single lane between 17th Street and Fox Street in Philadelphia on Thursday, August 15, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for adjustments to work zone barrier and line painting operations under a project to rehabilitate the half-mile-long Wayne Junction Viaduct which carries the expressway over SEPTA tracks, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The work had originally been scheduled for tomorrow night, August 14, but due to impending weather the operation was postponed to Thursday night.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) through the work area because slowdowns and backups will occur.
South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on the $88,456,609 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2022. For more information, visit us1wav.com.
