Route 73 (Skippack Pike) Lane Closure Scheduled Next Week for Lamppost
Installations in Montgomery County

The bridge carrying Route 73 (Skippack Pike) over Perkiomen Creek will be
narrowed to a single lane in Perkiomen and Skippack townships, and
Schwenksville Borough, Montgomery County, on Monday, March 27, through
Friday,
March 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for lamppost installations, the
Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. Traffic will be
controlled by flagging.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
area.
The schedule is dependent on the weather.

The work is part of a $7.5 million project to rehabilitate eight bridges in

Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

The bridge carrying Route 73 (Skippack Pike) over Perkiomen Creek reopened
to
traffic in November 2016, a month ahead of schedule.

In addition to the Route 73 (Skippack Pike) bridge, PennDOT has completed
the
rehabilitations of the U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) bridge over Martins Creek in
Falls Township, Bucks County; Chinquapin Road bridge over Iron Works Creek
in
Northampton Township, Bucks County; Dark Hollow Road bridge over Tohickon
Creek
in Tinicum Township, Bucks County; Route 32 (South Main Street) bridge over

Aquetong Creek in New Hope Borough, Bucks County; and the Route 611 (Broad
Street) bridge over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) in Philadelphia.

The two remaining bridges that will be repaired under this contract are:

• Bryn Mawr Avenue bridge over Ithan Creek in Radnor Township, Delaware
County;
and
• New Second Street bridge over Tacony Creek in Cheltenham Township,
Montgomery
County.

The entire project is expected to be completed by fall 2017.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from
Pennsylvania's
transportation funding plan, Act 89.
