I-76 Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures Next Week for Repair and
Resurfacing Project in Montgomery County

Daytime and nighttime lane closures are scheduled next week on Interstate
76
from U.S. 1 (City Avenue) to just west of the U.S 202 Interchange in Lower
Merion Township, West Conshohocken Borough and Upper Merion Township,
Montgomery County, as part of a $21.1 million major improvement project to
repair and resurface 12.5 miles of the expressway, the Pennsylvania
Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, June 25, through Thursday, June 29, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, a single lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76
between
U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Interstate 476 in Lower Merion Township and West
Conshohocken Borough, for concrete patching operations;
• Monday, June 26, and Tuesday, June 27, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, rolling
lane
closures are scheduled on westbound I-76 from I-476 to just west of the
U.S.
202 Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough and Upper Merion Township, for

survey operations; and
• Wednesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 29, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM,
rolling
lane closures are scheduled on eastbound I-76 from just west of the U.S.
202
Interchange to I-476 in Upper Merion Township and West Conshohocken
Borough,
for survey operations.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to
use an
alternate route or allow extra time when traveling on I-76 in the work
areas
because backups and delays will occur.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill, overlay and rehabilitate

existing pavement; perform base repairs; install new guide rail; repair or
replace damaged traffic signs, two overhead sign structures and numerous
expansion joints on three structures; and install rumble strips,
delineators
and new mileage markers along the four-lane section of I-76.

The resurfacing of mainline I-76 in Montgomery County is scheduled to be
completed in late October, while work on the entire project will finish in
summer 2018.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on
the
$21,150,734 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
