Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week on Several State Highways for
Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia

Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on several
state highways for resurfacing operations, as part of an $8.8 million
project
to repair and resurface 26 miles of state highway in Philadelphia, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, June 19, through Friday, June 23, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM and
9:00 AM
to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Clarissa Street/Wayne Avenue

between U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) and Washington Lane;
• Monday, June 19, through Friday, June 23, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM and
9:00 AM
to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Stenton Avenue between Ivy
Hill
Road and Phil Ellena Street; and
• Monday, June 19, through Friday, June 23, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM and
9:00 AM
to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Stenton Avenue/Godfrey
Avenue
from Wister Street to just east of Front Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work

zones because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's
schedule is dependent on the weather.

The additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract

include:

• U.S. 30 (Girard Avenue) between Lancaster Avenue and Lansdowne Drive/U.S.
13
(34th Street);
• Cheltenham Avenue between Route 611 (Old York Road) and Tookany Creek
Parkway/Crescentville Road;
• Princeton Avenue between U.S. 13 (Frankford Avenue) and I-95 Service
Road;
• Willits Road between Academy Road and Ashton Road;
• Bethlehem Pike between Germantown Avenue and Stenton Avenue;
• Parkside Avenue between North 52nd Street and U.S. 30 (West Girard
Avenue);
and
• Mt. Airy Avenue/Easton Road/Wadsworth Avenue between Germantown Avenue
and
Cheltenham Avenue.

State highways completed under this resurfacing project include:

• Henry Avenue between U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) and Walnut Lane;
• Spring Garden Street between 39th Street/Lancaster Avenue and the
Benjamin
Franklin Parkway;
• Chester Avenue between U.S. 13 (Baltimore Avenue) and 52nd Street;
• Kingsessing Avenue between 52nd Street and 65th Street;
• 65th Street between Kingsessing Avenue and Cobbs Creek Parkway; and
• Whitby Avenue between South 52nd Street and Cobbs Creek Parkway.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway
surface
and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal
the
roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in late October.

Tony DePaul and Son of Philadelphia, PA is the general contractor on the
$8,889,694 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act
89,
Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.
