I-95 Nighttime Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week in Philadelphia

Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 and other
regional
highways for ramp construction and installation of electronic message
signs,
the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, June 26, through Thursday, June 29, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, intermittent double lane closures are scheduled on
northbound and southbound I-95 at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange in
Philadelphia for removal of protective shielding;

• Monday, June 26, and Tuesday, June 27, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following
morning, two lanes are scheduled to close on northbound I-95 between the
Bridge
Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges in Philadelphia for
installation of a sign structure;

• Wednesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 29, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, one lane is scheduled to close on southbound U.S. 1
(Roosevelt Boulevard) between 9th Street and Broad Street (Route 611) in
Philadelphia for replacement of an electronic message sign;

• Thursday, June 29, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, two
lanes
are scheduled to close on westbound Interstate 76 between Passyunk Avenue
and
Wharton Street in Philadelphia for replacement of an overhead sign
structure;

• Thursday, June 29, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, two
lanes
are scheduled to close on southbound Interstate 476 between the Ridge Pike
and
I-76 interchanges in Montgomery County for replacement of an overhead sign
structure; and

• Thursday, June 29, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, two
lanes
are scheduled to close on northbound I-476 between the Route 3 and I-76
interchanges in Delaware and Montgomery counties for installation of an
overhead sign structure.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The work at the I-95/Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange is part of a $160.2
million
project to rebuild ramps and improve connections to and from I-95, Aramingo

Avenue and the Betsy Ross Bridge. The sign work is part of PennDOT's
initiative
to update Intelligent Transportation Systems' (ITS) equipment on regional
highways.
