Loux Covered Bridge Closed in Bedminster Township, Bucks County, Due to
Structural Damage

8/1/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Loux Covered Bridge over Cabin Run on Carver-Wismer Road in Bedminster
Township, Bucks County, was closed this afternoon due to structural damage
sustained from an oversized vehicle, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

The bridge will remain closed indefinitely until PennDOT engineers evaluate
the
condition of the bridge and establish a repair plan.

During the closure, Carver-Wismer Road motorists will be detoured over
Stump
Road, Route 413 (Durham Road) and Dark Hollow Road.

Built in 1874 and reconstructed in 1996, the one-span, steel-I beam,
timber-covered bridge is 80 feet long and 19 feet wide, and has a posted
weight
limit of 15 tons. The structure carries an average of 486 vehicles a day.
