Two U.S. 322 Intersections to Close for Widening and Improvement Project in
Concord Township, Delaware County

Station Road and Cambridge Road will be closed and detoured at U.S 322
(Conchester Highway) for intersection improvements as part of a major
project
to reconstruct, widen and upgrade traffic signals on a 2.5-mile section of
U.S.
322 (Conchester Highway) from U.S 1 (Baltimore Pike) to just east of
Featherbed
Lane/Mattson Road in Concord Township, Delaware County, the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, March 26, Station Road on the south side of U.S. 322 (Conchester
Highway) will be closed for approximately four weeks for reconstruction of
the
roadway at the intersection with U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway). Motorists
normally using Station Road will be directed to use Smithbridge Road,
Concord
Road and U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike).

• Monday, April 2, Cambridge Drive will be closed for approximately seven
weeks
for reconstruction of the roadway at the intersection with U.S. 322
(Conchester
Highway). Motorists will be directed to use Marlborough Lane and Merion
Lane.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$62.6 million project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds.

Engineering design is advancing for the widening, reconstruction and other
improvements on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from Clayton Park Drive to
east
of Route 452 (Market Street). Construction on this section is expected to
start
in 2019.

An additional contract to replace the U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) bridge
over
the CSX railroad and Bethel Road as well as improvements to the adjacent
Bethel
Road Interchange is under design.
