I-95 Lane Closures at Night Next Week for Construction between Cottman Avenue and I-676 in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA - Lane closures will be in place at night next week in both directions on Interstate 95 between the Cottman Avenue and Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia for various construction activities, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:
  • Sunday, October 14, through Friday, October 19, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating northbound and southbound lane closures will be in place between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue interchanges for soil borings;
  • Thursday, October 18, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM Friday, October 19, two southbound lanes will be closed between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Allegheny Avenue interchanges for installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment; and
  • Thursday, October 18, and Friday, October 19, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, southbound I-95 will be reduced from three lanes-to-two between the Girard Avenue and I-676 interchanges for adjustments to the temporary construction barrier.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 through the work areas. All scheduled operations are weather dependent.

The soil borings are part of the advance engineering activities related to upcoming reconstruction of I-95 at the Bridge Street Interchange. The barrier work and ITS installation are part of the reconstruction of I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange, including the $312 million GR4 contract currently underway to reconstruct southbound I-95 between the Allegheny Avenue and the Girard Avenue interchanges.
