Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) Reopened in Elverson Borough, Chester County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) was reopened between the West Nantmeal Township line and Pine Street in Elverson Borough, Chester County.

Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) had been closed since July for pavement reconstruction as part of a restoration project to replace deteriorated drainage structures and improve a 1.2-mile stretch of the highway.

PennDOT contractor will resume construction in mid-February when motorists can expect additional travel restrictions on Route 23 (Main Street).

In addition to replacing deteriorated drainage structures, this project also includes full-depth pavement reconstruction and installation of ADA curb ramps at Route 82 (Chestnut Street), Hall Street, Park Avenue, Pine Street, and Brick Lane.

This operation is also being coordinated with the Elverson Water Company which will work concurrently to replace its water line on Route 23 (Main Street).

Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, PA, is the general contractor on the $4,493,554 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction is expected to be completed in October 2019.
