Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) Traffic Stoppages Scheduled Next Week for Bridge Construction in Upper Salford Township

King of Prussia, PA – Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) motorists may encounter periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages weekdays between Long Mill Road and Shady Lane in Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, on Wednesday, December 4, through Friday, December 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for construction activities under a project to replace the bridge over the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The brief traffic stoppages are in addition to the ongoing single lane pattern in place on this section of Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) through spring 2020.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Two other Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) bridges over the Unami Creek and Ridge Valley Creek have been closed and detoured since May for replacement under the same project. Both bridges are expected to reopen in late 2019.

H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, PA is the general contractor on the $9,565,527 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to finish in summer 2021.
