Key Updates

  1. Winter weather is expected to taper off sooner than previously expected.

2.     EOC will be transitioning back to Level IV at 1100. This will be the last Situation Report issued. 

Event Summary

Chester County remains in Winter Storm Warning until 1600 hours. Snow is expected to taper off around 1100 hours.  4-6 inches of snow was forecasted for Chester County with southern areas of the County receiving lower amounts.

Weather Update:

Today:             Snow, mainly before 11am. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. The High will be near 31 degrees. Blustery, with a northwest wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches possible.

Overnight:      Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. West wind 10 to 16 mph. 

Current Weather Conditions:

Total Snow Accumulation: 0.5" - 4.2" across the County

Wind Speed:  North 16, Gusts at 25mph

Current Temp:  27 dgF (Pottstown-Limerick Airport)

Wind chill:  15 dgF (Pottstown-Limerick Airport)

Visibility:  1.25 mi (Pottstown-Limerick Airport)

Transportation

  • PA Turnpike has issued a truck restriction for the entire system; commercial towing multi trailers (twins/doubles) and commercial towing empties.
  • Speed restrictions are reduced to 45mph effective from Somerset to Bensalem and North-East Extension.
  • CHESCOBUS (SCCOOT and LINK routes) are operating with limited service. Link bus service will be staying on Old Lincoln Highway and will not be serving South Coatesville and Regency Park. Delays are expected.

Accomplishments

  1. EOC activated and staffed to Level III: Partial Activation
  2. Coordinated and provided situational awareness to municipalities 

Action Items & Next Steps

  1. Return EOC to Level IV Normal Operations at 1100
  2. This will be the last Situation Report issued.
