NWS Weather Briefing (February 6th 2017-PM)

Attached is the latest weather briefing from the US National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ regarding two weather events impacting the region.

Event #1:

Chester County will see precipitation overspread the County late Monday night (close to or after midnight) and continue through Tuesday. This is forecast to be an all rain event for Chester County.

Event #2:

Rain will start Wednesday evening and then changeover to snow late Wednesday night into Thursday from northwest to southeast. A period of accumulating snow is forecast to occur after the changeover to snow. The National Weather Service is forecasting roughly 2 inches of snow fall in the eastern portions and closer to 3 inches in the western portions of the county. 

Chester County Forecasted Conditions Second Event:

  • Anticipated Timing: Wednesday night into Thursday morning
  • Temperatures:  Wednesday high of 61 and low of 32 Wednesday night. Thursday high of 35 and low of 18.            

  • Precipitation: Rain is expected Wednesday evening with precipitation turning to snow overnight. Approximately 2 inches of snow could fall in the eastern portions and closer to 3 inches in the western portions of Chester County. 
  • Active watches & warnings: None

Impacts:

  • Hazardous travel conditions are possible late Wednesday night and Thursday, affecting the Thursday morning commute.

An updated briefing from the National Weather Service will be sent out tomorrow morning (February 7th).The Watch Officer will distribute the briefing once it has been reviewed and evaluated for updates and changes to Chester County.
