Travel Restrictions Scheduled on Several State Highways for Bridge
Inspections in Philadelphia and Montgomery County

Travel restrictions are scheduled on Interstate 676, Interstate 76 and U.S.
1
in Philadelphia, and U.S. 422 in Montgomery County, for bridge inspections,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, March 6, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the right lane is scheduled to

close on the westbound I-676 ramp to westbound I-76 in Philadelphia;
• Monday, March 6, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled to
close on the eastbound I-76 ramp to eastbound I-676 in Philadelphia;
• Monday, March 6, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled to
close
on westbound I-76 between I-676 and Girard Avenue in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, March 9, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled
to
close on westbound U.S. 422 at the Route 363 (Trooper Road) Interchange in
West
Norriton and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery County;
• Friday, March 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Saturday, March 11, from
8:00
AM to 4:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on the ramp from
westbound
I-76 to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) in Philadelphia;
• Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 26, from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, the
ramp
from eastbound I-76 to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) in
Philadelphia
is scheduled to close. During this operation, eastbound I-76 motorists
wanting
to access northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) will be directed to
continue
eastbound on I-76, exit at Montgomery Drive (Exit 341), make a left to
reach
the ramp to westbound I-76, and take the ramp to northbound U.S. 1
(Roosevelt
Extension);
• Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 26, from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, the
ramp
from City Avenue to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) in Philadelphia
is
scheduled to close. During this operation, City Avenue motorists wanting to

access northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) will be directed to take the

ramp to eastbound I-76, exit at Montgomery Drive (Exit 341), make a left to

reach the ramp to westbound I-76, and take the ramp to northbound U.S. 1
(Roosevelt Extension); and
• Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 26, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the
left
lane is scheduled to close on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) over
the
Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas.
The schedule is dependent on the weather.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of
the
structures.
