Southbound Delaware Avenue and southbound Richmond Street in Philadelphia's

Port Richmond neighborhood will be closed during the day next week for
demolition of the old off-ramp from northbound Interstate 95 at the Girard
Avenue Interchange, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, June 5, through Saturday, June 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
southbound Delaware Avenue will be closed between Aramingo Avenue and
Columbia
Avenue. During construction, traffic headed for southbound Delaware Avenue
on
southbound Aramingo Avenue will be detoured west on Girard Avenue and left
on
Frankford Avenue; and

• Monday, June 5, through Saturday, June 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
southbound Richmond Street will be closed between Girard Avenue and
Aramingo
Avenue. Southbound Richmond Street will be detoured right on westbound
Girard
Avenue and left on Frankford Avenue to Delaware Avenue.

All scheduled activities are dependent on the weather.

In addition, Columbia Avenue will be closed for approximately two months
beginning 9:00 AM, Monday, June 5, between Wildey Street and Delaware
Avenue
for construction of the remaining portion of the new off-ramp from
northbound
I-95 to Richmond Street at the Girard Avenue Interchange. Columbia Avenue
motorists will be detoured left on Wildey Street, left on Palmer Street,
left
on Girard Avenue and left on Frankford Avenue to Delaware Avenue.

Richmond Street also will be closed for roughly two months beginning 9:00
AM
Monday, June 5, between Columbia Avenue and Marlborough Street for
construction
of the new ramp. Richmond Street motorists will be detoured over Frankford
Avenue.

The new northbound I-95 off-ramp at Girard Avenue opened last month using a

temporary approach from northbound I-95. Work at Columbia Avenue and
Richmond
Street will construct the permanent approach to the new off-ramp.

This work is part of the $211.7 million project to rebuild and widen 1.5
miles
of northbound I-95 from the Girard Avenue to the Allegheny Avenue
interchanges,
including construction of a new northbound viaduct between Ann and Palmer
streets and new off-on ramps at Richmond Street.
