Overnight Lane Restrictions Scheduled for Resurfacing on Spring Garden
Street and Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia

Overnight lane restrictions are scheduled on Spring Garden Street between
Pennsylvania Avenue and Delaware Avenue, and Ridge Avenue between U.S. 13
(33rd
Street) and Spring Garden Street, on Tuesday, July 11, through Friday, July
14,
from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, for base repair and milling operations as part of
a
$7.1 million project to repair and resurface 16.5 miles of state highway in

Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
announced
today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work

zones because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's
schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract
include:

• Chestnut Street between 22nd Street and 21st Street;
• Girard Avenue between U.S. 13 (33rd Street) and Susquehanna Street;
• Vine Street between the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and 7th Street;
• Vine Street between 17th Street and 7th Street; and
• Walnut Street between Broad Street (Route 611) and Front Street.

Work on the project is expected to be completed in mid-November.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway
surface
and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal
the
roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

James J. Anderson Construction Co., Inc., of Philadelphia is the general
contractor on the project which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
