Wolf Administration Announces Major Improvement Project to Repair and
Resurface 12 Miles of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard)

7/25/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to
begin
next week on a major improvement project to repair and resurface 12 miles
of
the outer lanes on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between 9th Street and the
Bucks County line in the City of Philadelphia. Work on the project is
expected
to be completed in mid-November.

"Improving our highways throughout Pennsylvania is a must, especially
within a
busy and vital corridor connecting the neighborhoods of north and northeast

Philadelphia," Governor Tom Wolf said. "Roosevelt Boulevard is a key
transportation artery, and this project will preserve and improve the local

travel lanes."

Beginning Monday, July 31, through Thursday, August 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00
PM
and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and Friday, August 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and
7:00
PM to 10:00 AM, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on the outer

lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) from the Bucks County line to Red
Lion
Road, and from Cottman Avenue (Route 73) to 9th Street, for milling and
paving
operations.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to
allow
extra time when traveling on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in the work areas

because backups and delays will occur during construction.

PennDOT's contractor will continue to work in stages weekly to complete
various
sections of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) until mid-November.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway
surface
and repave the outside, local lanes with new asphalt. The project also
includes
resurfacing crossover lanes. The new pavement will seal the roadways and
provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor
on
the $7,645,967 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds from
Act
89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

The inner lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) were resurfaced in 2014,
also
with funds from Act 89.
