Route 41 and Newark Road Lane Closures Scheduled for Intersection
Improvement Project in New Garden Township

Lane closures are scheduled next week on Newark Road and Route 41 (Gap
Newport
Pike) for milling, paving and shoulder grading operations as part of a
project
to improve travel and safety at this intersection in New Garden Township,
Chester County.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, October 29, through Friday, November 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
periodic lane closures are scheduled on Newark Road between New Garden Road
and
Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) for shoulder grading;
• Sunday, October 29, through Friday, November 3, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
the
following morning, periodic lane closures are scheduled on Route 41 (Gap
Newport Pike) between Penn Green Road and New Garden Road for milling and
paving; and
• Sunday, October 29, through Friday, November 3, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
the
following morning, periodic lane closures are scheduled on Newark Road
between
Starr Road and New Garden Road for milling and paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas
because backups and delays may occur. The work schedule is weather
dependent.

Under this intersection improvement project, PennDOT is widening the travel

lanes; resurfacing the intersection; adding left turn lanes; removing right

turn lanes on Newark Road to improve safety; upgrading the existing traffic

signal; and installing a new crosswalk, pedestrian push buttons, ADA curb
ramps, guide rail, drainage and stormwater management features. The entire
project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general
contractor
on the $1,405,777 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent state funds.
