U.S. 422 Lane Closures with Traffic Stoppages Scheduled Next Week for
Bridge Construction in Valley Forge Area

Lane closures with traffic stoppages are scheduled next week on eastbound
and
westbound U.S. 422 between U.S. 202 and Route 363 (Trooper Road) for bridge

demolition and construction as part of a major project to build new, wider
bridges to improve travel and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill
River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River
Trail
in West Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery
County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced
today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, October 15, through Friday, October 20, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM,
lane
closures with periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages are scheduled on
eastbound
U.S. 422 between Route 363 (Trooper Road) and U.S. 202; and
• Sunday, October 15, through Friday, October 20, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM,
lane
closures with periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages are scheduled on
westbound
U.S. 422 between U.S. 202 and Route 363 (Trooper Road).

Drivers should allow additional time for travel in the construction zones
because backups will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

The scope of work on this project includes improving U.S. 422 between the
Route
23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading

Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) at its interchange with U.S. 422; and
improving
ramps at the Route 363 (Trooper Road), Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and
First
Avenue interchanges.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97.4 million project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds.
