Wolf Administration Applauds Awards Given to Innovative P3 CNG Fueling
Station Project

Pennsylvania's innovative Public-Private Partnership Compressed Natural Gas

Fueling program has been cited as innovative project of the year by the
Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania.

The CNG fueling station at the Beaver County Transit Authority also was
selected as Project of the Year by the Beaver County Chapter of the
Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers

The Larson Design Group won the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania
award
for its work with Trillium CNG to design the CNG fueling stations that will
be
installed at 29 public transit agency sites through a 20-year P3 agreement.


"We applaud the work of Larson and Trillium in winning this professional
recognition and for advancing Governor Wolf's efforts to help generate a
market
for abundant, cleaner burning natural gas," said PennDOT Secretary Leslie
S.
Richards. "The Wolf administration is working hard to ensure our various P3

projects are delivering improvements for the people of Pennsylvania."

Through the $84.5 million statewide P3 project, Trillium is overseeing the
design, building, financing, operation and maintenance of the CNG fueling
stations. Trillium also is making CNG-related upgrades to existing transit
maintenance facilities. Transit agencies have been converting parts of
their
bus fleets to CNG-powered vehicles as part of the project.

In addition, CNG fueling will be accessible to the public at six transit
agency
sites, with the option to add to sites in the future. PennDOT will receive
a 15
percent royalty, excluding taxes and commodity costs, for each gallon of
fuel
sold to the public at public sites, which will be used to support the cost
of
the project.

Using the P3 procurement mechanism allows PennDOT to install the fueling
stations faster than if a traditional procurement mechanism were used for
each
site, resulting in significant estimated capital cost savings of more than
$46
million.

When the project is completed, the fueling stations will supply gas to more

than 1,600 CNG buses at transit agencies across the state. To learn more

• Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority, Allentown Facility;
• Mid Mon Valley Transportation Authority;
• New Castle Area Transit Authority, includes public fueling;
• Westmoreland County Transportation Authority;
• Centre Area Transportation Authority;
• Beaver County Transit Agency; and
• Crawford Area Transit Authority.
