Route 73 (Skippack Pike) Intersection to Close Next Friday Night for Construction in Skippack Township
King of Prussia, PA – The intersection of Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Perkiomen Creek Road will be closed and detoured from 7:00 PM, Friday, September 28, through 7:00 PM, Saturday, September 29, for excavation and paving operations as part of a project to improve travel and safety at the intersections of Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank Road/Otts Road; Route 73 (Skippack Pike) at Plank Road; and Meyers Road, Seitz Road and Township Line Road in Skippack, Perkiomen and Limerick townships, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
During the intersection closure, motorists will be directed to use Perkiomen Creek Road, Graterford Road, Route 29 (Gravel Pike) and Plank Road. Local access will be maintained during the closure.
In addition to the intersection closure, Route 73 (Skippack Pike) will be reduced to a single lane between Perkiomen Creek Road and Plank Road from 7:00 PM, Friday, September 28, through 7:00 PM, Saturday, September 29.
Motorists are advised to allow for additional time when traveling through the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Improvements under this $11 million project include widening the intersection of Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Plank Road to include left turn lanes on both roads; relocating Otts Road to align with Plank Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike) to create a four-leg intersection; adding left turn lanes on Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank Road/Otts Road; adding left turn lanes on Plank Road and Otts Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike); realigning Meyers Road to intersect with Township Line Road; realigning Seitz Road to form a T-intersection with Meyers Road; installing new traffic signals along the project corridor; and improving the roadway alignment in three locations.
H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project that is financed with 100 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to finish in spring 2019.
