Intermittent Lane Closures Scheduled on Ridge Avenue for Safety Improvement
Project in Philadelphia

9/29/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

Intermittent lane closures with flagging are scheduled in both directions
on
Ridge Avenue between Girard Avenue and 17th Street in Philadelphia on
Monday,
October 2, through Friday, October 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for
construction
activities related to a project to improve travel and safety along a
1.3-mile
section of Ridge Avenue, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today. The project is scheduled to be completed in
summer
2018.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
area
because backups and delays will occur. The work schedule is weather
dependent.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is upgrading 11 signalized
intersections by adding pedestrian countdown signal heads; installing
overhead
signals and installing LED street lighting; and upgrading the fiber
interconnect traffic signal system, signal cabinets, controllers, signing
and
pavement markings along this corridor.

Armour & Sons Electric, Inc. of Langhorne, Bucks County, is the general
contractor on the $1,698,438 project which is financed with 100 percent
federal
funds.
