PennDOT to Replace Street Road Bridge over Curls Run in Solebury Township, Bucks County

PennDOT to Replace Street Road Bridge over Curls Run in Solebury Township,
Bucks County

9/8/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, September 18, on a three-month
project to rehabilitate the structurally-deficient bridge carrying Street
Road
over Curls Run in Solebury Township, Bucks County, the Pennsylvania
Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Due to the nature of the repairs, Street Road will be closed between
Atkinson
Road and Windy Bush Road. Street Road motorists will be detoured over Ridge

Road, Pineville Road and Pine Lane. The bridge is expected to reopen in
mid-November.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

As part of the rehabilitation, crews will remove and replace the existing
arch
fill and pavement and reconstruct the stone masonry barriers, spandrel
walls
and wing walls along the right side of the bridge, which was damaged
earlier
this year from vehicular impact. The remaining stone masonry features will
be
cleaned and repointed.

Built in 1860, the one-span, stone masonry arch bridge is 13 feet long and
18
feet wide. The structure carries 1,300 vehicles a day. It is currently
posted
with a 33-ton weight limit.

The rehabilitation of the Street Road bridge over Curls Run is part of
PennDOT's $6.8 million project to rehabilitate five structurally-deficient
bridges in Bucks and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient
culverts
in Bucks County, and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks
County.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds through Act 89,

Pennsylvania's transportation plan.

Work on the entire project is scheduled to be completed in late 2018.
