Weeknight Lane Restrictions Scheduled Wednesday and Thursday for
Resurfacing Operations in Montgomery County

Weeknight lane restrictions are scheduled in both directions on Route 63
(Welsh
Road) between Twining Road and Computer Avenue in Upper Dublin and Upper
Moreland townships, Montgomery County, on Wednesday, September 13, and
Thursday, September 14, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, for milling and paving
operations in the area of the bridge carrying Route 63 (Welsh Road) over
Norfolk Southern Railroad, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this work
zone
because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule
is
dependent on the weather.

In addition, beginning Wednesday, September 13, westbound Route 63 (Welsh
Road)
motorists will be able make a left onto Twining Road.

The bridge carrying Route 63 (Welsh Road) over Norfolk Southern Railroad is
the
first structure on an improvement project to rehabilitate nine structurally

deficient bridges in Chester and Montgomery counties.

The single-span prestressed box beam bridge was built in 1966. It is 82
feet
long and 63 feet wide and carries about 24,749 vehicles a day.

The other bridges included in this rehabilitation project include the
following:

• Old Lancaster Road over Amtrak in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County;
• Boot Road over Route 100 in West Whiteland Township, Chester County;
• Ross Fording Road over Octorara Creek in West Fallowfield Township,
Chester
County;
• Route 611 over Pennypack Creek in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County;
• Route 611 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike ramp in Upper Moreland,
Montgomery
County;
• Quakertown Road over Macoby Creek in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery
County; and
• Linfield Road over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Limerick Township,
Montgomery
County.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in August 2020.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
this $7,296,296 bridge improvement project that is financed with 100
percent
state funds through Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan.
