Route 23 Ramp to U.S. 422 East to Reopen Monday in Valley Forge Area

The ramp from Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) to eastbound U.S. 422 will
reopen
sometime Monday afternoon, September 18, following a two-month closure for
construction related to a project to build new, wider bridges to improve
travel
and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River, Norfolk Southern
Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West Norriton,
Upper
Merion and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

In addition to the ramp reopening, a traffic shift is planned for eastbound
and
westbound Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) motorists traveling over U.S. 422
between Gulph Road and Moore Road. Sometime Monday afternoon, September 18,

traffic will be shifted to the newly built half of the Route 23 (Valley
Forge
Road) bridge over U.S. 422 so crews can start construction on the other
half of
the structure.

This work is part of a major project to improve U.S. 422 between the Route
23
(Valley Forge Road) and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrade
Route 23
(Valley Forge Road) at its interchange with U.S. 422; and improve ramps at
the
Route 363 (Trooper Road), Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue
interchanges. Construction began in February 2016 and is scheduled to
finish in
May 2020.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project the $97.4 million project that is financed with 80 percent federal
and
20 percent state funds.
