Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week for Bridge Inspections in
Philadelphia and Montgomery County

Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 Girard Point
Bridge, U.S. 1, U.S. 202, Interstate 76 and Germantown Pike in Philadelphia
and
Montgomery County for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, September 18, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the left lane is
scheduled to
close on the ramp from U.S. 202 South to I-76 East in Upper Merion
Township,
Montgomery County;
• Monday, September 18, through Thursday, September 21, from 9:00 AM to
3:00
PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the southbound deck of the I-95
Girard
Point Bridge in Philadelphia;
• Tuesday, September 19, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the right lane is
scheduled
to close on northbound Germantown Pike between Chemical Road and Plymouth
Road
in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County;
• Tuesday, September 19, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is
scheduled
to close on southbound Germantown Pike between Plymouth Road and Chemical
Road
in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County;
• Wednesday, September 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is
scheduled
to close on northbound Chemical Road between Ridge Pike and Gallagher Road
in
Plymouth Township, Montgomery County;
• Thursday, September 21, from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM, a right lane closure is

scheduled on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard Extension) between the
Wissahickon Avenue and I-76 interchanges in Philadelphia;
• Friday, September 22, from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM, lane closures are
scheduled on
northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard Extension) between the I-76 and the
Wissahickon Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia;
• Saturday, September 23, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on the southbound deck of the I-95 Girard Point Bridge in
Philadelphia; and
• Saturday, September 23, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on the northbound deck of the I-95 Girard Point Bridge in
Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the
structures.
