I-95 Lane, Ramp Restrictions Scheduled at Night Next Week in Philadelphia

Lane and ramp closures will be in place at night next week at several
locations
on Interstate 95 for construction operations between the Cottman Avenue and

Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of

Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, March 4, through Friday, March 9, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, alternating northbound and southbound right lane
closures
will be in place at changing locations between the Cottman Avenue and
Bridge
Street interchanges for soil boring operations;

• Sunday, March 4, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
northbound
I-95 will be reduced from three through-lanes-to-two and the northbound
off-ramp at the Girard Avenue Interchange will be closed for installation
of
overhead sign lighting;

• Monday, March 5, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
southbound
I-95 will be reduced from three through-lanes-to-one between the Allegheny
Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges for installation of overhead sign
lighting;

• Tuesday, March 6, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
southbound
I-95 will be reduced from three-through-lanes-to-one between the Allegheny
Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges and the southbound off-ramp at the
Girard
Avenue Interchange will be closed for installation of overhead sign
lighting;
and

• Wednesday, March 7, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM Thursday, March 8,
northbound
I-95 will be reduced from three through-lanes-to-one between the Girard
Avenue
and Allegheny Avenue interchanges for installation of overhead sign
lighting.

If any of the planned lane or ramp closures are cancelled due to weather,
crews
will work Thursday, March 8, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following
morning, in
either the northbound or southbound direction to complete the operation.

In addition, southbound Richmond Street will be closed to through traffic
between Ann Street and Allegheny Avenue in Port Richmond on Monday, March
5,
through Friday, March 9, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for gas line
installation.
Southbound Richmond Street traffic will be detoured west on Allegheny
Avenue
and south on Aramingo Avenue.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The sign lighting installation is part of PennDOT's $212 million project to

reconstruct I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange and install Intelligent
Transportation System equipment on I-95 and other regional highways.

The soil borings are engineering activities underway for the planned
reconstruction of I-95 between Bridge Street and the Betsy Ross
Bridge/Aramingo
Avenue Interchange.

The utility work is part of the reconstruction and improvement of Richmond
Street between Ann Street and Westmoreland Street, the first stage in the
larger reconstruction of I-95 between Allegheny Avenue and Frankford Creek.
