College Avenue Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week for Trench Restoration in Haverford Township
King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on College Avenue between Walton Road and Haverford Road in Haverford Township, Delaware County, on Monday, August 27, through Friday, August 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for trench restoration, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. These restrictions will also be in effect at the intersection of Haverford Road and College Avenue.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction area because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is weather dependent.
In early June, PennDOT reopened the new College Avenue bridge over the SEPTA railroad tracks and the adjacent culvert over Cobbs Creek.
Additional improvements remain as crews have been working to stain the bridge parapets and complete the widening and improvement of the College Avenue and Haverford Road intersection, which includes the installation of new traffic signals as well as the addition of left turn lanes on College Avenue at this intersection.
PennDOT's contractor replaced the two-span concrete encased steel beam bridge with a one-span composite pre-stressed concrete box beam structure and constructed a new precast reinforced concrete arch culvert.
The new structure over the SEPTA tracks is 42 feet wide and 58 feet long, with two 11-foot travel lanes and a 10-foot left turn lane. It also features a five-foot wide sidewalk on the west side of the structure and a two-foot wide shoulder on the east side.

Road-Con, Inc. of West Chester, Chester County, is the general contractor on the $5,240,145 project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.
