Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Repair and Resurface 11 Miles of State Highway in Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin next week on a project to repair and resurface more than 11 miles of state highway in Delaware County.

"We are committed to improving the transportation network in all areas across Pennsylvania," Governor Tom Wolf said. "The resurfacing efforts in Delaware County will help create quality roadways and safer driving conditions for residents in their everyday lives."

This project accompanies the governor's Resurface PA initiative, an aggressive campaign launched by PennDOT to accelerate repaving interstates and attacking potholes across the state's 40,000 miles of PennDOT-maintained roads, the nation's fifth largest such system.

On Thursday, September 6, and Friday, September 7, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Harvey Road between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Oakland Road in Chadds Ford Township for milling operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:

  • Chichester Avenue between Route 452 (Market Street) and Concord Road in Bethel, Upper Chichester, and Lower Chichester townships;
  • Ring Road between Ridge Road and U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Chadds Ford Township;
  •  Foulk Road between U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) and Concord Road in Bethel Township;
  • Pyle Road between U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road) in Bethel Township; and
  • Ridge Road between the Delaware state line and U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) in Concord and Chadds Ford townships.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway surface and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $2,757,777 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in December 2018.
