Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Repair and Resurface 18 Miles of State Highway in Montgomery County

​King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin next week on a project to repair and resurface 18 miles of state highway in Montgomery County.

"Projects like this are critical for the improvement of transportation infrastructure in Pennsylvania," Governor Tom Wolf said. "The restoration of these roadways in Montgomery County ensure quality local roads for years to come."

This project accompanies the governor's Resurface PA initiative, an aggressive campaign launched by PennDOT to accelerate repaving interstates and attacking potholes across the state's 40,000 miles of PennDOT-maintained roads, the nation's fifth largest such system.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, August 20, and Tuesday, August 21, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Eagleville Road between Park Avenue and Ridge Pike in Lower Providence Township, for milling; and
• Wednesday, August 22, and Thursday, August 23, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Hanover Street between the Chester County line and the Pottstown Borough line in Pottstown Borough, for milling.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:

• Souder Road between Schoolhouse Road and Allentown Road in Franconia Township;
• Schoolhouse Road between Wambold Road and Morwood Road in Lower Salford and Franconia townships;
• Lederach Road between Haldeman Road and Schwenksville Road in Upper Salford Township;
• Spring Mount Road between Schwenksville Road and Perkiomen Creek Bridge in Upper Salford and Lower Frederick townships;
• Camp Road between Morwood Road and Route 563 (Ridge Road) in Salford and Franconia townships;
• Haldeman Road from just east of Garges Road to Salfordville Road in Lower Salford Township;
• Hill Road between Route 29 (Gravel Pike) and Hill Road/Hanover Township line in Upper Frederick and Marlborough townships; and
• Wentlings Schoolhouse Road/Jacobs Saw Mill Road from just south of Paper Mill Road to Kutztown Road in Upper Hanover Township.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway surface and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $3,269,876 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in December 2018.
