Route 29 (Morehall Road) Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures Scheduled for Improvement Project in Chester County

King of Prussia, PA – Route 29 (Morehall Road) motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Yellow Springs Road in Charlestown and East Whiteland townships, Chester County, on Sunday, August 19, through Friday, August 24, for paving, line striping and other construction activities related to an improvement project to reconstruct a portion of the highway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, August 19, through Friday, August 24, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane closures and lane shifts are scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Yellow Springs Road;

• Monday, August 20, Thursday, August 23, and Friday, August 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures and lane shifts are scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Yellow Springs Road; and

• Tuesday, August 21, and Wednesday, August 22, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures and lane shifts are scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Yellow Springs Road. The 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM restriction will be limited to the northbound far right lane.

Route 29 (Morehall Road) drivers, as well as motorists exiting the Pennsylvania Turnpike, are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this work zone because backups and slowdowns will occur during construction. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this improvement project, crews are working to correct existing sinkhole and pavement subsidence issues. PennDOT is working to minimize future sinkhole problems by constructing geotechnical treatments and roadway drainage improvements to prevent surface water infiltration and provide structural support to the roadway. The project is scheduled to be completed in September.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $2,592,555 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
