U.S. 422 West Daytime Lane Closure Next Week for Tree Trimming Operations in Pottstown Area
King of Prussia, PA – Westbound U.S. 422 motorists will encounter short-term single lane closures next between Keim Street and the Stowe Interchange in North Coventry Township, Chester County, and Pottstown Borough and West Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, on Tuesday, September 4, through Saturday, September 8, from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for tree trimming operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur.
This operation is part of a project to rebuild 1.2 miles of U.S. 422 from just east of the Schuylkill River bridge to just west of the Montgomery County line.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is reconstructing U.S. 422 on both existing and new alignments; reconfiguring the U.S. 422/Stowe Interchange to a diamond configuration; removing and replacing the existing ramps and culverts; installing new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment, message boards, cameras, signing, pavement markings, lighting, concrete median barriers, median glare screens and guide rail; upgrading stormwater management facilities and pipes; and constructing and restoring wetlands.
H & K Group, Inc. of Schwenksville, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $35,581,408 improvement project which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.
