Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week for Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on three state highways as part of a project to repair and resurface 15 miles of state highway in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
- Monday, September 17, through Friday, September 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on Philmont Avenue between Byberry Road and the Bucks County line for line striping;
- Monday, September 17, through Friday, September 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on Lincoln Drive between West Cliveden Street and West Allens Lane for milling and paving; and
- Monday, September 17, through Friday, September 21, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on Washington Lane between Chew Avenue and Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue) for milling.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.
State highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:
- Walnut Street (Route 3) between 24th Street and South Broad Street (Route 611);
- 5th Street between Walnut Street and Spring Garden Street;
- Dauphin Street between Ridge Avenue and Aramingo Avenue;
- 65th Street between Kingsessing Avenue and Passyunk Avenue;
- 29th Street between West Girard Avenue and U.S. 13 (West Hunting Park Avenue); and
- The ramp from Front Street to southbound Interstate 95.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway surface and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
Tony DePaul and Son of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $6,754,325 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
Work on the project is expected to be completed in December 2018.
