Lane Restrictions at U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange

Lane restrictions are scheduled on the U.S. 422 west ramp to Armand Hammer
and
at the intersection of U.S. 422 and Armand Hammer Boulevard in Lower
Pottsgrove
Township, Montgomery County, for the reconstruction of the intersection,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Crews will work Monday, September 19, and Tuesday, September 20, from 9:00
AM
to 2:00 PM and Monday, September 26, and Tuesday, September 27; from 9:00
AM to
2:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Motorists are advised to allow extra time
when
traveling through the area as backups may occur when westbound U.S. 422 is
reduced to one lane during this time.

The work is weather dependent.

The upcoming operations are part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to
rebuild
1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road)
interchanges, and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and
Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled
to
finish in October 2018.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
