Olney Avenue to Close Next Week in Philadelphia for Intersection Safety
Improvements

Olney Avenue is scheduled to close between 3rd Street and Mascher Street in

Philadelphia, on Monday, September 12, through Friday, September 16, from
7:00
AM to 3:00 PM, for intersection safety improvements, the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

During construction, eastbound Olney Avenue motorists will be detoured over
3rd
Street, Chew Avenue and Mascher Street. Westbound Olney Avenue motorists
will
be detoured over Mascher Street, Clarkson Avenue and 3rd Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this work
area. The construction schedule is contingent on the weather

The work is part of a $4.7 million safety improvement corridor project on
1.62
miles of Olney Avenue between Broad Street (Route 611) and Rising Sun
Avenue in
Philadelphia. PennDOT's contractor is installing new traffic signals and
pedestrian countdown timers at 15 intersections and constructing 106 ADA
ramps
at 19 intersections.

The entire project is expected to be completed by November 2017.

Armour and Sons Electric, Inc. of Langhorne, Bucks County, is the general
contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal
funds.
